The visible output is not where design begins.
It is where questions, evidence, choices and trade-offs become something others can use. Sometimes that is a screen. Sometimes it is a framework, product rule, system or flow. The form depends on what the problem needs.
Products shape how people understand, trust, choose and participate. That is why I practise design: to turn complex ideas and systems into something clearer, more useful and easier to act on—whether the starting point is commercial, organisational or social.
I rarely begin with the answer—or assume the first version of the brief has named the real problem. I ask why, listen to the people closest to it, and look for the strongest evidence the context can support. Often, that evidence changes the question before it shapes the answer.
My process loops—on purpose. I move fluidly between gathering evidence, zooming into details, stepping back to the wider system, modelling possibilities, and choosing a direction. These moves repeat whenever the work reveals something new.
But the loop cannot run forever. Thinking needs a way to decide. Once a direction is sufficiently grounded, I make it tangible. Building creates new evidence, and the next question becomes clear once there is something real to respond to.
I’m a generalist, so the industry can change. What stays consistent is the kind of problem I enjoy: ambiguous, interconnected and shaped by different user, business and technical realities.
My work has ranged from luxury retail to trust and workforce technology. Across them, I keep returning to questions of clarity, behaviour, participation and how systems earn confidence. I’m especially energised when the stakes extend beyond the product, but I’m not limited to one kind of mission or sector.
